LIVE REVIEW: San Cha

San Francisco, CA

Cafe Trieste was hit with a vivacious fury of style and soul Saturday May 8th as the eccentric performer known as San Cha took the stage, backed by a band pumping out jagged guitar and a fierce beat on the drums. Headlining the night, San Cha pulled the evening to a close with fantastic music that dripped with raw rock-and-roll style, creating an atmosphere that was as dark as it was mystical. She opened her set with a hard-hitting track titled "My President, My Queen," which was sensual and hypnotizing, with repetitive lyrics that ripped at your understanding of what was politically correct. The show was sensational, offering not only phenomenal music, but also an overall tantalizing experience that left you in a state of awe. San Cha is definitely what one would call an adventure, pulling the audience into another realm of music that is pulsing with raw sexual magnetism and a unique sense of haunting wonder.

If you get the chance to check her out live, it's definitely worth the trip. She's not your normal musical front-woman. She's anything but average, with an off-the-wall style and a classical, blues-type voice that rips you to pieces (in a good way). Her music is shocking and raw, the kind of stuff that stands your hair on end and leaves you wide-eyed and completely satisfied. Although she is fairly new to the San Francisco music scene, San Cha is definitely working on getting her name out there and leaving a lasting impression that gets people talking. She is currently working on putting out an EP, so don't be surprised if her name starts popping up in social circles. But don't take my word blindly; go see her for yourself and you'll understand that her music is not just a show, it's an experience.
